1. PARTICULARS OF NORTH EASTERN POLICE ACADEMY, FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

NORTH EASTERN POLICE ACADEMY was established in 1978 to cater to the police training requirements of the North Eastern States. It was initially set up as a project of the North Eastern Council, but consequent upon the creation of Department of Development of North Eastern Region, it was brought under the later. In 2007, the Academy was transferred to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to facilitate professional inputs.

The main function/objectives of the Academy is to impart basic training (induction course for directly recruited Dy. SP,SI of North Eastern states, besides imparting in-service training to Police Personnel of all ranks from across the country.)

NEPA has the following constituent Divisions:-

i. Administration Division:
It deals with the overall management of General Administration, Establishment and co-ordination of different sections.

ii.Information & Public Relations:
The important function is to reply to various RTI's received by the Academy.

iii. Training Section:
It deals with training of Basic Course Trainees and various In-Service Courses conducted in the Academy for various ranks of Police Officers as well as personnel of other government organisations.

iv. Accounts Section:
It deals with matters relating to Accounts of the Academy.

v. Electrical Section:
It deals with matters relating to Electricity of the Academy.

vi. Engineering Section:
It deals with the maintenance of the building and monitoring of constructions works in the academy.

vii. Water Supply:
It deals with upkeep and maintenance of water works and water supply in the academy.

viii. Motor Transport:
It deals with maintenance and running of the Academy's motor vehicles.

ix. Quarter Master:
It deals with procurement and distribution of items to various sections.

x. Audio Visual Section:
Deals with the audio and videography of various events in the academy.

xi. Computer Section:
Deals with procurement,upkeep and maintenance of all computer-related hardware and software as well as communication equipment.

xii. Official Language:
It deals with the Official Language (Hindi).

3. PROCEDURE FOLLOWED IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS, INCLUDING CHANNELS OF SUPERVISION AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

The cases are, generally, processed at the Section/Desk level and the files are submitted to In-Charge/ Deputy Director (Adjutant)/Deputy Director (Indoor)/Joint Director/Addl. Director/Director and other Officers as per the requirement of each case.

As per CCS Conduct Rules & other related orders/Rules issued by Govt. of India from time to time. The files are processed by respective branches and through supervisory officer reaches to Competent Authority for financial decision.

Head of Department, i.e. Director is the decision making authority.

The Academy has no own norms and regulations. However efforts are made to deal with the cases as fast as possible in accordance with the CCS/CCA rules 1964-1965 and other instructions issued from time to time by the Govt. of India.
