NEPA objective

The Academy has three main aims for police training.

  • Basic training

    To impart one year basic training to directly recruited Police Officers of the rank of Sub Inspector and Deputy Superintendent of Police of North East States.

  • In-service programmes

    To design and offer different types of in-service training programmes for police personnel of all states of India.

  • Inter-departmental courses

    To design and offer courses that bring Police Officers into close contact with officers of other departments such as the Judiciary, Armed Forces, CAPF, Prison Department, Customs and Excise.

About NEPA

An establishment of the Government of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs, shaping police officers for equitable, effective and sensitive policing.

The North Eastern Police Academy (erstwhile the Regional Police Training College) is situated in Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya. It started functioning in July 1978.

It is dedicated to teaching police personnel of the North Eastern States and from across the country to safeguard the value of freedom: freedom from disorder, criminal acts and criminals.

    Facilities

    The campus has a main building with the administrative office, faculty offices, classrooms, library and conference halls. It also has an auditorium, guesthouse, separate syndicate rooms and student dormitories. Faculty residences are next to the campus.
